You can view huge ore boats (freighters) from the beach as the enter the St. The beach is very sandy, and the water shallow, warm and clean.
About 1/2 mile down the road is a gas station/convenience store, a bar, and a decent restaurant. There is a small market directly across the street from the park. This is always quickly cleaned up by park personnel, sometimes seen at 2 AM cleaning the bathhouses! There was a problem with one bathhouse and earwigs! Ugh! The showers were hot, clean, and good water pressure-a godsend to campers! The staff was friendly and polite, and the location is great for touring the Eastern/Central UP attractions.
The bathrooms were always clean, except for the occasional 'child/teen' trashing of such, with toilet paper being dumped all over the floor. The campground sites are for the most part all grassy, lots of shade, and clean. The park has a great day use area, with lots of space, all grass, volleyball, playground ( of the old equipment variety-huge swings, huge slide, monkey bars and a merry go round), a sandy beach, a screened-in pavilion, lots of picnic tables. Brimley State Park in located in Brimley, MIchigan, along the shore of Lake Superior.
